Goma escapes the lava of the Nyiragongo volcano in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo



 

The Democratic Republic of the Congo announced this morning that the eastern city of Goma "escaped" the lava released after the eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano on Saturday night. The city and its neighbors are worried about another volcanic eruption. "The lava is located in Bohini, on the outskirts of Goma," General Constant Ndima, the military governor of the region, said in a short recording to the public through the media, noting that "the city survived.

 The eruption of Nyiragongo volcano occurred on January 17, 2002 and killed more than 100 people.
